aspects of your care. We aim for transparency regarding our fees for both consultations and
surgery, ensuring you have a full understanding from the outset. We also prioritise diligent
follow-up to monitor your progress and ensure the best possible outcome for your
orthopaedic health.

Surgical Fees

Mr. Sethi is registered for the "Gap Access Cover Scheme" with most private health funds. This means that for the majority of privately insured patients, most of the surgeon's fee will be paid directly by Medicare and your private health insurance fund.

Fee Discussion and Quote

Your surgical fees will be discussed thoroughly at the time of your consultation. A financial informed consent form and a detailed quote will be provided to you.

Out-of-Pocket Expense (Gap)

In cases where there is an out-of-pocket expense or a "gap" (which can depend on your level of insurance cover or the complexity of the surgery), it is typically kept to a minimum (usually less than $500).

Anaesthetist Fee

Please note that the anaesthetist's fee is separate and will be advised directly by the anaesthetist involved in your care.

Hospital Excess

Most private hospital covers have some form of excess that is payable at the time of admission to the hospital. You should confirm this with your private health fund.

Uninsured Patients

For uninsured patients, the surgeon's fee for surgery is in line with private hospital cover fees. Please call our office for detailed information regarding fees for surgery if you do not have private health insurance. We are happy to provide comprehensive guidance.

Initial Consultation Fees

When you contact Mr. Sethi's office for the first time with a referral from your General Practitioner, you will be advised of the fees for your initial consultation.
  • Industry Standards : Our fees are in line with industry standards and Australian Medical Association (AMA) guidelines.
  • Payment on Day : All consultation fees must be paid on the day of your appointment. We accept EFTPOS or Credit Card (Visa/Mastercard).
  • Medicare Rebate : After your consultation, we will submit your claim online, and you will receive a partial rebate from Medicare directly back into your account, usually within 24 hours.
  • Special Consideration : Special consideration regarding fees will be made for patients holding a pension or health care card.

Your Follow-Up Appointments

Your follow-up appointments are a vital part of your recovery journey, ensuring that a successful outcome has been achieved. These appointments are usually booked even before your surgery is performed and will be confirmed with you when you are discharged from the hospital.
  • Regional Patients : Sometimes, for patients from regional areas, we will plan simpler post-operative follow-up arrangements with your local GP to avoid unnecessary travel.
  • Unsure or Can't Attend : If you are unsure of your follow-up arrangements or if you can't attend one of your appointments for whatever reason, please contact us, and we will be able to help reschedule or clarify.
Our model of care involves collecting specific outcome information through questionnaires to reliably measure results. This dedication translates into better results for you.

WorkCover / TAC Patients

If you are a WorkCover or Transport Accident Commission (TAC) patient, there will be no direct charge to you, provided we have received written approval from the relevant third party before proceeding with your consultation or surgery.
